Taking Care of your GEOS Recycled Glass Surface Countertop
Care and Maintenance
GEOS Recycled Glass Surfaces are easy to maintain and keep clean. For daily care we recommend wiping the surface with a damp soft cloth.
To remove surface debris, use a soft cloth and mild cleaner. Cleaning products should be free of chlorine bleach, ammonia, citric acid or other acids. Never use bleach, oven cleaners, Comet®, Soft Scrub®, SOS®, Lime Away®, products with pumice, paint removers, furniture strippers, citrus based cleaners, tarnish or silver cleaners, as these contain harsh chemicals and/or abrasives that can damage the surface.
For items that have adhered themselves to the surface, such as mustard, gum, etc. use a razor blade at a 45-degree angle to the surface and scrape with light pressure to loosen the item. Remove remaining residue with a soft cloth and cleaner.
GEOS Recycled Glass Surfaces are non-porous so there is no need to seal or wax your tops. We do recommend however that spills be wiped up as soon as possible. Spills or cleaning products containing high acidity (such as lemons or vinegar) if left for a prolonged period or applied routinely may cause damage to our colors containing natural sea shells.
Although GEOS Recycled Glass Surfaces are extremely heat resistant and can resist high temperatures for brief periods at a time, they can be damaged by sudden and/or rapid change of temperature. Direct heat transfers from pots & pans, countertop appliances on, under or around the surface such as but not limited to fryers, electric frying pans, air fryers, griddles, crock-pots, toaster ovens, or heat lamps can cause damage. Likewise, extreme cold temperatures from cold producing devices or dry ice. The use of a hot pad or trivet is always recommended to prevent “thermal-shock” of the product. A thick cutting board may be placed between the appliance and GEOS or consider relocating the appliance to an alternative surface, like a glass cook top, while in use.
Cutting on the surface with a non-serrated knife will not damage the surface but cutting boards are always recommended. Due to the content in GEOS Recycled Glass Surfaces, professional knives can be dulled and damaged by the surface. NEVER use a meat clever on the surface.
The GEOS Difference
Over the last decade, more and more companies strive to protect the environment in which we live. GEOS Recycled Glass Surface is the first recycled glass surface to combine an environmental focus with a product that is durable, easy to maintain and aesthetically pleasing. The majority of recycled glass surfaces are made using concrete, making them porous. Over time, what was once a beautiful investment will be full of etches and stains if not properly maintained by sealing and waxing at least once every year. GEOS Recycled Glass Surfaces are non-porous and practically maintenance free, never requiring the need to be sealed or waxed. Backed by a 15 year warranty, GEOS Recycled Glass Surface is a choice you can live with.
